Everyone of us is in this network marketing industry for money. Yes there are a lot of other benefits which also captivates us, but money is one of the most important reasons why we are here.
Money very rarely get talked about as we don’t want to be seen to be con-artist, scammers or forcing people to part with hard earned $/£/€ but I think its important to understand how money comes to us and why.
Lets look at what we really get paid for in this industry in any industry for that matter.
Show Me The Money
My mentor Jim Rohn was the first person I heard explain this.
We are paid in direct relation to the value which we provide to the market place.
Thats powerful information, read it again!
The common misconception is that we get paid based on the time we spend on / at work. This isn’t true. In the employment world if we work 8 hours we will expect to get paid for 8 hours. This is correct, but what we are REALLY getting paid for is the VALUE we produce in the 8 hours.
Look at it this way. If you are employed by a company to do a set task for 8 hours you will get paid for those 8 hours. Your manager or boss also works 8 hours doing their tasks for the day but they get paid more than you for the same 8 hours.
Why is this?
This is because they are deemed more valuable than you. What they produce in the same 8 hours has a higher value to the market place than what you produce in the 8 hours.
So you can see that what we really get paid on is the value we provide to the market place and not the time we put in.
Knowing this information give us a great insight into how we can get more money in our business. All we have to do increase our value to the market place.
“And who can increase their value?…..ANYBODY!”
We can’t increase time and we can’t increase the price of products unfairly so there is no point trying to do that, but we can all increase our value.
Now Here Is The Really Exciting Part
There is NO LIMIT to how valuable to the market place you can become!
You can be unemployed getting $0 per hour, this means you have a lot of time to read, study and increase in value.
Then BAM you offer your newly acquired value to the market place. People will pay for what you have to offer.
Your employed getting minimum wage, you decide to take a management course. You complete the course with flying colours.
BAM your value just went up. You can now start looking for management positions paying you more money for what you can now supply to the market place.
Internet Network Marketing Is No Different
When you come into this industry (generally) you know nothing about it. There is a lot to learn, which means there is a lot of value to be gained. Learn all you can, then present what you have learned / discovered / experienced to the market place. People will value what you have to offer. They will want to get more and more of your value. They will buy from you, join you, recommend you, testify to how good and worthy your value is.
Keep increasing in value and your value to the market place will keep increasing.
Here Is How You Increase Your Value
- Read all the relevant books as you can (the one’s you don’t read won’t help)
- Listen to as many audio books as you can
- Attend as many seminars / webinars as you can.
- Talk to / learn from as many people who have what you want as you can << that’s a major one
- Apply what you learn so that you can have quantifiable proof of the value that you can now offer the market place.
A lot of value is free, some you have to pay for. It’s all worth it for your big picture!

These were good points. I think so many people think of their time as dollars and it is so much more. Not only do you give value to others but your business will never surpass your personal development (as your mentor JR said) so if you can embrace gaining knowledge and growing personally there will be no limits to your success.

Hey Dwayne,
You covered some great stuff! More valuable you are, the more you are paid. What amazes me is even if you don't have money to buy course or seminars. The information is so available with your blog and many other readers that post on this blog are full of valuable information. When applied promptly, it increases the value of the individuals.
Great day…
Josh
Great post,
I think way to many people underestimate their true value. Are they worth 20K, 40K, or 100K a year? They are worth what they think they are, they just have to go out and make sure they provide the value like you talk about. I have heard it a thousand times, especially from people in Alabama (the mindset here is amazing), well my family's always done this, so I guess that's what I'm doing. Crazy, Nuts, Insane! You look at some of the wealthiest people in American history and they didn't start out as Rockefellers, they worked their way to it by providing value that no one else could.
See ya and great post,
Eric
“And who can increase their value?…..ANYBODY!”… You know I love that quote by Jim Rohn – That was one quote that stuck in my head continuously while I was building my offline business, and even today it has great value.
Great post my friend.

Nice one Dwayne,
See, that's why I come to your site — to increase my value!
One thing I like to think about as an MLM leader is how can I make building the business easier and simpler for my team?
How can I get them started making money from day one?
How can I get them the training they need, where they can learn it and use it at their own pace?
Well, let me tell you — this takes a lot of work on my part! But value doesn't come free, it's EARNED.
Hey Richard
Jim Rohn was truly great
Thanks for passing by
Hey Josh
Knowledge is power and knowledge is free. If you look hard enough you can gain all the knowledge you want for absolutely nothing. Gain it and apply it.
Hey Eric
Anything a person wants to gain in their life they have to learn it. If they want to drive a car, they have to learn how to drive a car. So value and increasing value is so crucial.
Hey Wayne
I remember the road trips and the re-sighting of quotes. Good-times
Hey Derek
Its a pleasure to have to here.
You are definitely providing heaps of value to the market place and people are taking some serious notes!
Jim Rohn did say it well, “We are paid in direct relation to the value which we provide to the market place.” When you really understand what that is telling you, it blows you away. It did for me when I first hit. Thanks for the reminder.
It all comes down to putting your wholehearted passion into your business by putting out the value to the world and you'll be bound to get back directly what you put in. It's true, because I remember there were times when I wasn't given my full attention. What did I get back? Not Much!
It was a good lesson just as this post was. Another good one from DH.
Have a great day.

Hey Dwayne,
I really like the direction you take with your posts. I can tell by reading your material that you are always working on self improvement and building your brand. One is no good without the other. The internet offers something that is rare in the offline world. A cost effective way to continually increase your personal value, and turn that into dollars.
Hey Jerome.
Jim was the man. The way in which he presented simple concepts were and still are so valuable and user friendly.
Understanding that providing value to the market place is the key producer in life is essential.
Hey Chris
It means a lot when people can see what I am trying to achieve. I know that the value I provide can and will help others. I know the more value I provide the valuable I become. I want everyone to know and understand this and even use me as an example when explaining to others.
