ARGH. I Lost $4,000 On PPC

I Lost $4,000 On PPC - ARGH

A friend of mine screamed this to me just over 6 months ago.

“ARGH. I Have Lost $4,000 On My PPC Campaign!”

Loosing any amount of money is never a good thing IF you view it as a loss!

My friend is a successful internet marketer, who I have had the pleasure of watching him progress fruitfully in his business. But there was a time when he was pulling his hair out trying to figure out Pay-Per-Click Marketing (PPC).

All marketing methods have their strategies which you will need to learn to gain success. This is an unavoidable fact of internet marketing.

PPC is seen as the most lucrative form of internet marketing ONLY IF YOU GET IT RIGHT.

What Is PPC?

Pay Per Click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on websites, in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system. – Wikipedia definition.

Some people are natural PPC’ers. They just get it, so it becomes fun and games for them. Whilst building their business and making a lot of money.

The rest of us have to learn PPC from courses, ebooks, seminars and webinars. Then we have to apply what we learn in a trial and error process.

This process is where most of us spend most of our PPC money. But this process is very necessary.

Without trying, tweaking, spending, learning, applying, trying again, re-tweaking, spending more, learning more and applying more you will never become success at PPC.

YOU ONLY TRULY LEARN BY DOING!

My friend had a great outlook on his LOSS of $4,000 to PPC.

He didn’t view it as a loss at all.

He saw it as a $4,000 PPC education.

Did he give up on PPC?

NO HE DIDN’T.

Is he now generating 100-200+ leads a day from PPC?

YES HE IS.

Is he generating income from many income streams due to his PPC campaigns?

OF COURSE HE IS.

Is he getting people to join him in his business from his PPC campaigns?

YOU DAMN RIGHT HE IS.

Has he made back his $4,000?

MANY TIMES OVER!

Moral Of The Story

The $4,000 would only be a loss if that is how he viewed it to be.

If he hadn’t learned anything from his PPC attempts and he decided to give up, then yes it would be a loss.

But each time he lost money he would learn what he had done wrong and not make that mistake again.

There are always more than one way to view any situation. You can chose which way is going to benefit you or hinder you.

I personally always look for the benefit in all situations. It makes for a more productive life / business.

The Pain & Pleasure Of PPC

I don’t personally know anyone who is doing / has done PPC who hasn’t spent between $1,500 – $5,000 on becoming PPC successful. (That does not include the cost of any courses they may have taken.)

Hey Dwayne

Right now I stay away from PPC but have used in the past with just small budgets and small results. I was really just testing.

What really excites me though is the targeted PPC that Facebook is now providing.

Hi Dwayne,

I have not used PPC but see the strong lesson in this post.

It reminds me of a well-known stock broker who said that his early losses were merely Wall Street's tuition. If you aren't willing to pay you won't be able to sit in class, and graduate.

For each loss you experience program yourself to see the immediate gain.

Hey Dwayne,

I'm seeing a huge trend where more individuals are going into PPC. With PPC, it is the fastest way to generate leads. I tell folks you should start with a any kind of budget to start the learning curve. I started with Yahoo and gradually went into Google. Thanks for sharing this encouragement!

Chat with you later…

“What can I learn from this for it to not happen again”. If we ask this question during adversity it changes our focus we are open to learning from it. We are humans and we are bound to make mistake but not learning from them is really a BIG MISTAKE. No body becomes a star without struggle. Great post

Hey Tommy

My business only started to pick up real momentum when i decided to open my wallet and invest more time on the productive tasks.

I know it is a big step, but it is one which all successful internet marketers must take at some point.

Thank Yadvinder.

You are right. Our mistakes and failures are the most valuable lessons IF we learn from them.

There is a big buzz right now with Facebook PPC which is cool. I haven't ventured into it yet, but I'm sure I will soon.

Hi Dwayne,

Funny I had a discussion about PPC with my husband today. I used to do PPC on Google a while back. Not very successfully though. He is getting into it on Facebook. So I may be following his lead and see how it's going.

Failure is definitely no “end all” but another opportunity to succeed.

There's no doubt that PPC works but it's like any marketing strategy, you have to learn it, commit to it and practice, practice, practice…

Hey Dwayne,

Know what’s funny? Ironically, I’m finding it hard to spend money on PPC at the moment. I’d be delighted to lose a few bucks because at least I know that people are click on my ads, which they’re not doing right now. So making my ads enticing enough to click on is where I’m at.

I totally agree with you, it’s definitely not a loss because it’s really paying for the best training, which is gaining real world experience.

hey Dwayne,

I had a similar situation – however it took me about $2000 before I finally got it down pat. Thankfully, it’s provided much more. It’s like OTJ (On The Job) training.

This is a great moral that PPC does work.

Catch you later,

Which is why I want people to look at the money they may loss in PPC as money well spent on learning all about PPC.

Reply

Dwayne Huggins July 21, 2010 at 21:19

Hey Susanna

It is much the same as being uncomfortable to get comfortable.

Once the financial loss is not viewed as a loss, letting go of it becomes a lot easier.

Hey Dwayne,

PPC can be a scary thing that's for sure. I have heard alot of horror stories and personally, that has made me a bit fearful of just jumping in and giving it a shot without knowing the facts. Luckily for me I am going to be working with some experts soon that really know their stuff. I can't wait because PPC is the certainly a great way (very fast) to build your business. Thanks for the post!

Have a blessed day!

Losing $4000 on a PPC campaigns is a hard pill to swallow for any one, but I completely agree. You see, when I first stated investing into real estate I myself made a mistakes that cost me $10,000. But the lessons I learned from that experience has lead to my success. So yes Dwayne, your right the best way to learn is to do it until you reach success. EXCELLANT BOLG

Hey Melisa

It is great that you have selected a good team to work with, that makes a world of difference.

There are horror stories about all sorts, remember the horror stories about network marketing which you must of heard when you joined the industry. Look at where you are now. Do those horror stories effect you? (I doubt it).

Good luck with it all.
