You Inc. is a great concept. It has made millionaires and will continue to do so indefinitely. It is easy to grasp and understand how it works, there are examples of it all over the internet and it suits any business model.
But there is a flaw in it.
For it to work for YOU, you have to stand out from the crowd. YOU have to become more visible and YOU have to be liked and valued.
Ah-ha! I need ME to make it work. Great.
I have nothing to offer. Not so great.
This is a problem which used to hound me and held me captive in my own procrastination cell for way to many months.
• How was I going to STAND OUT against the likes of these top gurus out there?
• What VALUABLE content could I offer the industry?
• I hadn’t achieved much why should anyone listen to me?
All the while still in captivity I see people come on the scene brand themselves and move their business to a new level.
I remember asking myself, “how the hell did they manage to do that?”
This is when I began looking for the magic pill that they must of taken to get them to where they were.
They were now standing out from the crowd, being recognized by some big names in the game and their lead flow was going through the roof.
How did they go from SITTING IN (like me) to STANDING OUT and branding themselves. This seriously puzzled me.
I read the information on their blogs, capture pages and emails and found that I already knew most of it.
Yet they were STANDING OUT and I was still SITTING IN.
I got it in my head around the bottom end of October 2009 that I was going to do a blog and talk about what I know about network marketing on it.
I didn’t look at it as the savior to my network marketing business. It was something I just wanted to try.
November 4th 2009 my first post went up. It was about Facebook Marketing.
To give this post and my blog the best start possible I also did a video to go with it. I uploaded to BetterNetworker.com
The response I got was amazing.
On the blog post I got 5 comments.
On the video on BetterNetworker I got 25+ comments
This response for someone who was sitting in being held captive by his own procrastination was immense. It was hard to believe it was actually happening.
The video has now made its way to the cover of Best of Better Networker 2nd monthly addition.
Thanks to the Better Networker team who deemed it valuable enough to go in the installment let alone share the cover with the great Todd Falcone.
Am I STANDING OUT NOW?
I had a new problem after the success of my first post.
How the hell do I follow up on that success? (A good problem to have, but a problem nevertheless).
I solved the problem by forgetting the first post every existed. I carried on what I had set out to do and that was to talk about what I know about network marketing and what it has taken to get me to where I am to today.
So said so done. 83 post later I am standing out more, I am being heard, and some big names know my name.
Don’t get me wrong I know I have a long way to go but I have also come along way.
I wasn’t until yesterday reading Jason Better’s post about people making excuses why they can’t succeed in this industry that I remembered that it wasn’t long ago that I was banging my head against a brick wall trying to figure out how to STAND OUT form the crowd.
The solution is very simple. DO YOU and DO YOU EVERYDAY.
On a blog, via social media, PPC. Which ever method you choose to get YOU out there is up to you just as long as you DO YOU everyday.
People will come. It many take a while, it definitely wont happen in a week, but if you stick to it, it will happen.
If you allow yourself to get bogged down with comparing yourself to the next guy (especially the really successful ones) your not going to make it. Forget about them and DO YOU.
If you think what you have to offer isn’t worth while to share, then you wont share it and you will remain stuck in your procrastination cell rooting away and creating a bad smell. Forget this way of thinking. You never know who is going to appreciate what you have to offer. Share it with us and smell better.
Today some of my posts are hits some aren’t, that’s just the way it is. But everyday I put ME out there for people to consume, learn from and debate with.
This is how I am now STANDING OUT from the crowd.
Incase you was also looking, I would like to inform you that there is no magic pill.
Lets Stand Together
Dwayne

Nice one Dwayne… You are right, you just stand out by being you and by being you every day until you realize you are standing out. It is something that comes with taking action every day as one 'spreads oneself around' in whatever way you can. Well done!
Cheers

Thanks for this one Dwayne. It reminds me that we are all unique and have something to offer. And yes Procrastination is a killer. It is disquised in some many different ways ie. getting ready to get ready, memorizing the script, make a better drop card or get a better profile picture, proofread…again! It's a killer. Action is your greatest weapon in the battle for success.
Procrastination is one of our worst enemies!
I'm a perfectionist by nature, so I tend to get way to stuck in the details.
Sometimes you just need less thinking and more action!
Thanks for the post and congratulations on your ongoing success,
Matt

Hey Dwayne,
This is on point! You have to put yourself out there. Not once a week or twice a week. It has to be everyday. Especially for newbies. You have to get your word out as much as possible to get notice.
I know some people say they don't have the time to put something out everyday. I know one thing that success is not built being comfortable or leisure. It's built being tired, worn out, and exhausted. Awesome job!
Chat with you later…
Josh
Great post and Blog Dwayne! You have great content! Looking forward to keeping in touch!

You nailed it Dwayne, I gotta tell You Man, You stand out in My book with Your posts.
Well said , Just Do You, Words to live by,
*Jonathan Sweeting*
I did the same thing Dwayne. So, I can so relate with this one.
I found myself looking for the magic pill too. Ironically, I found what worked for me was I would just share my experiences which happened to be my struggles. So there has to be others out there just like me. And, sure there was.
Have a good day,
Jerome Ratliff
Hey Dwayne,
I can relate to wondering what I can offer, what I can contribute that hasn't already been done hundreds of times already.
I honestly cannot imagine sitting back and reading blogs and seeing others moving forward and not doing anything myself. I found out a blog was important so I started one that week. There was only one blog I ever saw before I started mine up. I was green as green can be.
After reading your post, and thinking of my own experience, I think procrastination has one powerful benefit once it's over. Like fireworks that sit and wait to be lit. You gathered so much information that when you stepped forward, you did it with power and stood out right away.
So for those that have been procrastinating, it's time to step into their own unique power. Awesome concept.
Great article!
Susanna
Hey Marcus
I like what you said in your post. Network Marketing is 'simple', its not easy.
The process to standing out simple. Just share what you know (the more you know the better). << Simple
Sharing it everyday << Not so simple (until it becomes a habit).
To right Richard
Its our uniqueness which makes it possible for us to stand out.
Hey Matt
Or you can act on your thoughts. Either way action is the key.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it
Everyday sets a high expectation of you. People see your commitment. They feel comfortable with you and thats important. You may not be feeling comfortable yourself but that will pass. The plus side is your business would of grown.
Hey Kyle
Welcome to my online home.
Thank you for you comment and I look forward to seeing more of you
Hey J
Thanks man. Doing me is all I do and it seems to work. Can't complain with that
We are all much the same. We're looking for like-minded people who have had similar experiences to bond with and relate to. This starts the friendship which leads on to partnerships.
The procrastination firework – good way to put it. Very true. Once we get going we can light up the night sky – Key here is ONCE WE GET GOING.
Great comment Susanna
Hey Dwayne,
This is one of the best posts I've read since being a keen follower of your blog, 'cos it's about “to hell with it, I'm going to take some action and I don't care what the outcome is.” Thanks for reminding me about comparing myself with the next guy. That can really bum you out sometimes, when just need to be focused on YOU.
Great post,
Wayne
Hey Wayne
Thanks man. It got to a stage in my NM life that I got sick of seeing others be successful and tired of looking for the magic pill that i just thought “let me do something, whatever it is has to be better than doing nothing” and that was it.
Comparing yourself to the next guy never helps. Being you is so much more valuable.
Dwayne, this post made me think back a few years when I started my first newsletter. I procrastinated and thought about it way too long. After I got tired of reviewing the work of others, I finally decided to make my own contribution to the body of knowledge. It continues to be a wonderful journey.
Thanks for another great post.

Hey James
Making the decision and acting upon it changes our lives. Then we kick ourselves wondering why we didn't do it before or sooner.
Thanks for passing by.
Procrastination is one of the biggest killer in this and any other business. I struggled with that a ton in college and was always waiting until the very last possible second. The thing is, if you just decide to do your task instead of waiting, you save yourself a lot of worrying about it and headache.
Good post,
Eric McMillan
Hey Dwayne,
I've always tried to avoid “magic pills” — they'll give you hallucinations and you'll start doing things like having conversations with chairs (LOL)
I can definitely relate to comparing yourself with others — I used to do this in a negative way, like “I could never be as good a speaker as that guy…”
Now, I use it in a positive way — I look for success stories and I say to myself, “I'm glad that guy's making millions, he just proved it can be done!”
Hi Dwayne,
I dowloaded Vol2 yesterday, but haven't read it yet. So I didn't see you as you are below the fold. Good thing I read your post here. Congratulations! You definitely deserve to share the spotlight with Todd Falcone. I bet it won't be long and you'll have it all to yourself.
I know, we shouldn't really compare ourselves to others, because we are all unique in our own way. And every guru out there started off in baby booties. It's hard though not to do it.
It took me a long time before I posted my first article at BetterNetworker and I really was surprised about the results. The first time is always the hardest.
Keep up the great work!!!
Ilka
Ha, you know what … I've seen this video before. Actually, that was the first video I ever saw of you. And I followed your advice and changed some thing on my FB profile page back then. I had forgotten all about that
We all suffer from procrastination. Brian Tracey made a good point.
“As we have to procrastinate, lets procrastinate on the lesser things and not the major things”.
I thought that was well said
Turning negative into positive the best way to deal with most situations.
Conversations with chairs, that would be something to watch – ha
There is always going to be a level of uncertainty, I definitely had it, but once you get pass that it a whole new world
To this day I am shocked that the video did so well. Just goes to show what taking action can really do.
