Duplication In Network Marketing Does Not Work

“All you have to do to be successful in network marketing is do exactly what I am doing exactly how I am doing it”. – RUBBISH!

When I first jumped into the world of network marketing, way before I knew there was online network marketing. I was repeatedly told by people in my upline that all I had to do was be just like them. Don’t get me wrong, these people are all successful network marketers and an amazing group of people to be around. Their successes were all gained the old school ways. Using the old school methods. Non of these people were like me, and I wasn’t like any of them, so how was I going to duplicate them to get their successes?

This is one of the biggest misunderstandings in network marketing

There are people in my upline who have been doing network marketing for 6, 10, 12+ years. They have achieved their main goals and they are living the lifestyle they want to live. They know the business inside out, some of them even liaise with the company owners on new ideas and ways of generating more business. They are all confident, lively characters. They teach (old school methods) to newbies weekly. Now I don’t know about you, but I used to look at these larger than life, highly experience leaders and say to myself, there is know way I can be like you! Allow me to clarify this a little. I am more of a laid back, mellow character. My comfort zone is with learning a topic from the ground up and then using what I have learnt in my own way. I am not afraid of coming forward, but I prefer to do it in my own time. I am very driven and I will find another way to make something work if I am not happy with the way I am being taught. If you are nothing like you upline how are you expected to duplicate them and their successes? You will find that you cant. Your driven ambition will force you to try, and that’s admirable, but inside you will be feeling uncomfortable and like a fraud. This feeling over time coupled with continued rejection (you will get rejected because the people you talk to will see how uncomfortable you are and wont want to buy from you or join you) will lead you to do one of two things. Quit or search for another way. The stats say 97% chose to quit. 3%, strong minded individuals look for another way. If you are reading this, I think it would be fair to say you are 1 of the 3% ;-)

The answer to the duplication problem.

I am not knocking what you may of been taught by your company trainers. Like I have said my upline are successful, but time has moved on. There are more options and more way of doing things. This means there are more effective answers to problems which people will encounter. The first place the vast majority of people go to get an answer to their problem is the internet. Again you are proof of this. The pattern of a new age, strong minded network marketer is this:

  • They feel hyped about a business structure which they have been introduced to, this business can bring their dreams into reality
  • They join the business. They devour all the information they can from their uplines and trainers.
  • They try the methods they have been taught, and stick at them for an amount of time.
  • They see very little results, become disheartened and begin to feel like a failure.
  • Determined, they go online to look for another way, because surely there are other people who have had / are having the same problems.
  • They find attraction marketing and sale funnels. The penny drops and an online network marketer is born.

They learn that their new network marketing life online has nothing to do with being like anyone else and everything about being exactly who they are. It’s no longer about going out slapping a big false smile on their face and attacking everyone within 3 feet of them. It’s all about being themselves, providing value consistently and watching people come to them and want to join with them. What a relief. It’s almost the complete reverse of what they have been taught.

Duplicate systems, not people.

  • Find an online network marketing system which is proven to work and displays their results.
  • Research online marketing methods.
  • Brand you and you alone throughout all you marketing efforts.
  • Make sure all for business system works and promotes you.
  • Continue to grow in personal strength and in business.
  • Always remember, people buy people not products.

Agree? Disagree?

Do you thing duplication in network marketing works? Feel free to let me know your thoughts. Leave me a comment, if you have more to say, leave 2, 3, 4 comments, I welcome them all.

With your success in mind always.

Hey there Dwayne

I think duplication is a key component to making a network marketing business wildly successful if done correctly. The whole intention of our business is so that it will run while we are away. If it does, then we know duplication is working.

Hey Jerome

Thanks for passing by.

People need to be trained in knowing what to do so they can get on with it productively when we are not there. I agree that this is a key factor in a successful network marketing business.

My aim is to guide people to the knowledge and help them work out how to use it in ways which suits them best.

Hello Dwayne

Duplication is very important in Network Marketing Business. I know a lot of the very successful individuals that have been in business for 7+ years still teach 'old school methods' of building business. Guess what…'old school method' still works today. There are people that are not afraid of building there business using the 3 foot method. But individuals like you and I prefer to explore a little outside the lines. I personally like to use and teach a combination of 21st century methods 'internet' and 'old school method'.

Great Post! Keep it up…

Hi there Dwayne,

You know, my experience with Network, or any marketing for that matter, is limited. I can see how a duplicate-able 'system' is important. I also know from my experience running a successful framing company, everyone is different. Everyone operates differently and needs to be treated the same.

When a group of individuals comes together and can begin working together to achieve a common goal then the group will become unstoppable…I suppose Network marketing is no different. The common goal should be the success of the group as one.

Thanks for your leadership Dwayne. I really appreciate you and your input.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Josh

Nice to see you on here again.

The old school methods of marketing most definitely still work. I know successful marketers who refuse to market online.

Most of the old school methods just aren't for me. I like the fact that you teach both, it expands your appeal and your audience. Even though I know the old school methods, I wouldn't feel comfortable teaching them as I didn't get results from using them myself.

I more side with duplicate-able systems, than duplicating people. Once the person knows and understands the system I help them find their best, most comfortable way of using it.

Mitch, how's it going? Thanks for stopping by.

You said it a duplicate-able system is very important.

It's also very true, having a group of people working towards the same goal is very powerful. (I still want to know what you and your team have in-store for us, cant wait).
