After a part 1 there must be a part 2 and here it is. The Art of Leadership Part 1 was a brief description of where my head was / is at and the importance of gratitude, making decisions and controlling your feeling. I also put some videos of Alpha Networkers who are amazing leaders to back up my statements.
Today I am going to focus on Belief. More to the point self belief. Without self belief you will never achieve what you truly deserve in life. You will only live life as a person who settles for what life gives them. You will always be used to fulfill someone else’s dreams or worse yet fulfill no ones dreams including your own.
Self belief is self power, lets dig a little deeper.
The Power Of Self Belief
A friend of mine Chris Owen has an amazing story of how he over came a difficult card that life dealt him. His story is a powerful one and one that we should all take to heart and learn from.
I urge you to go and read it. You will see that the belief he had in himself set him on his determined road to success. Chris you inspire me.
There are many similar stories of the power of self belief all around us. If you still watch the news you will hear how people get through really difficult situations merely based on the fact that they fully believed that they will.
One Of My Stories
Not to long ago I was faced with a situation where I was desperately searching for a new job. I was determined to get a good job which I knew I deserved and when I got this job I wanted to be promoted to a higher position within 3 months of starting the new job.
The atmosphere where I was working at the time was rapidly getting worse. It was coming up to Christmas and the boss hadn’t paid me my salary from November yet. I was sending my CV out like a mad man and had many opportunities come my way which I could of taken but (not to be to big headed) they were for a lesser position than I was worth.
I pushed on and got offered an interview at a very reputable design agency. As soon as I walked in the place I knew this is where I was going to work.
Within a week I was offered the job. The exact job I wanted and believed I deserved. Within two weeks they promoted me to a higher position in the company. I started work there on the 17th December 2007. They even paid me an advance on my salary so that I could enjoy Christmas.
All this happened because I believed in myself and wouldn’t settle for less.
My Belief Today
Today I know I have so much value to give back to others in or outside of network marketing. I know where I want to go and I know how I am going to get there. I am prepared for mid-course adjustments on my journey but I fully believe I will achieve my goals.
As a leader (pre-alpha to alpha networker) I know you can also achieve all your goals. You will need help along the way and that is what leaders are here for. We want to provide you with some direction and guidelines to help you along your own journey to success. We know you can do what we are doing / have done. We fully believe it is possible for you to acquire all you deserve but what we believe about you is worthless unless YOU believe it for yourself.
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right!” – Henry Ford
A great quote by Mr. Ford. If you think / believe you can’t then you can’t. I teach my children that there is no such thing as can’t. Everything is possible as long as you truly believe you can achieve it.
Hold Firm To Your Beliefs
Once you have the belief in yourself, your capabilities and your future capabilities you have to hold on to that belief. Many things will come your way to test your belief. The strength of your belief will pull you through.
Show me a leader who hasn’t come up against great challenges. In every challenge which they faced it was their belief in themselves which brought them through the challenges.
If you believe you are on the right course then don’t let anyone or anything take you off that course. Push on through and see the rewards on the other side.
Leadership Belief
You wouldn’t follow a leader who didn’t believe in themselves and their abilities. You wouldn’t follow a leader who didn’t believe in you. So you can see that self belief is a foundation level must for any leader to have.
Your leader should be able to see the potential in you and help you to develop your own self belief in yourself. But remember YOU are the only person who can make use of your self belief.
I know you can be an Alpha Networker. I know I am well on my way to becoming one. The question is will you join me?

In the late 80's I wanted to start a pond building company and everyone said I was nuts. My family laughed at me and said I wouldn't make it 3 months and I would be back. Well it wasn't easy going but I kept my head down and pushed forward. I became the best in the country at what I did soon lecturing all over the country and giving seminars and doing world class work. And you guessed it I was then the pride of the family. But as they say all good things must come to an end and the economic crash murdered that business. Now it's onto the new. Into the new economy which is the internet. It's not easy but I will succeed and be more successful then before because I go only one way and that is forward and upward! Self belief is a daily ritual and we are defined by our rituals. Great post Dwayne, I enjoy the daily read.
Hi Dwayne,
Killer post, if you can't believe in yourself who else will?
What have I overcome through belief in myself?
In 1992 through a very painful divorce and even more devastating revelations
of what my marriage really was when I was at work I developed a major addiction to speed.
In Nov. 1994 after losing almost everything I owned I dug deep and found a small spark of
self-respect I still had left. I made arrangments to make a “short” visit with my Mother and sister to
get my head out of my butt and the speed out of my system.
On Dec. 11,1994 I quit cold turkey. The withdrawals wer terrible and lasted for weeks. No intervention,
no support groups just my newly rediscovered self-respect and the knowledge that my seven year old son
needed his father to be whole and healthy.
Even after all these years it is very painful to remember what I allowed to happen to myself. Yes, at some level I let
it happen, no one forced me.
It's only when you take full responibilty for your actions that your self-belief can manifest itself.
“What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger”, right Chris?

Richard.
You have a great story and you are the perfect example of what can be achieved if you believe in yourself. Good on you sir.
I am positive your online marketing success story will be very similar if not better than your pond ventures
Wow Michael
Firstly, welcome to my blog. It's great to see you over here.
Secondly, thank you for sharing your story. You really have overcome a lot more than most people will ever experience in their lives. Congratulations on digging deep and quitting your powerful addiction.

Hey Dwayne,
It is very important to belief in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, then get around people that are leaders because they will see the potential that is in you.
Great post!
Josh
It all starts with our mind. No matter what, if we don't fix that and get it ready, all the other results are meaningless. Only then will our perseverance bring great things into our life. I truly belief this!
And, the art of leadership is so important for our home businesses, as a role model or even as a parent. I sincerely thank you for this because Part 2 was just as good as Part 1.
Have a great weekend Dwayne.

Dwayne,
. I am making my way through the course as well and it is really transforming my life. I always tell people when they ask what the top quality they need to have to be successful and I always tell them “Belief”. If you don't have that burning desire and belief in everything you do, then you leave yourself open to failure.
You must be going through Alpha networker or something
Great post,
Eric
That's so true Josh. Getting around the right people (leaders) can have a massive impact on how you view yourself
Thanks for passing by
Thanks Jerome
The sequel is always a worry. You have set my mind at ease.
Nice post, Dwayne.
You didn't settle for less and you got the job you were looking for — that's the same kind of mentality that will carry you to success in Network Marketing!
I recently did a post about my time as a landscape designer:
http://drivetheline.com/4-things-i-learned-abou…
To give you some background:
I was a fine artist, making enough to scrape by plus waiting tables.
I just got married and I knew I had to get a “real job” so I started applying to jobs like “Architect” and “Landscape Designer” — even though I had no experience or formal training in either.
But I BELIEVED in myself and I even got a landscape design/sales job!
Within a year, I was the top salesperson out of 8 designers (all of them with WAY more experience) and I sold nearly a million dollars in landscapes!
THAT is the power of belief!
Eric.
I got Alpha Network the same day Mike pre-released it. I know the path I am on and I knew this product was going to help me (which it has). Its another great product from the Magnetic Sponsoring Team
Dwayne,
Some great Aplha Networker concepts here, I am not surprised you pulled through that situation and came out shining. It is a sign of a true leader to take tragedy and turn it into triumph.
Great post my friend.
Hey Derek
Settling for less is not in our DNA as you have shown with your landscape story. I am going over to your post now to get the full story.
Wayne
Alpha concepts for the alphas in us all just hope people take note and really learn the message.
Hey Dwayne,
Belief/Mindset is so important. It is really what sets you apart from everyone else. You can have all of the technical know-how in the world but if you do not believe in yourself, you are not going to take it anywhere. And most definitely nobody is going to follow you!
I think there is kind of a catch 22 when it comes to changing your belief to move to the next level. On one hand, people don't think that something so (seemingly) easy is going to really make a big change. On the other, when you decide to change, it is a lot harder than you might think.
So there are really two hurdles to overcome. Understanding that you NEED to do this to push forward. Then having the tenacity to stick with it when the going gets tough.
Great post
Chuck
Hey Dwayne,
I am having trouble with your comments box, and I wanted to reply to Michael anyway…so I will post my comment here.
I love this post. Not just because it plugs my site, but because it taught me a lot about you. I know you are deep into this alpha networker course, but I think that it is only a small fuel to the fire you have. You are fine tuning your leadership skills, but you have had the qualities of a leader long before even you knew it. I love reading your material.
Michael, man you hit a soft spot with me here. Something I leave out of my story, is the medication. In the “Sometimes Motivation Sucks” post I talked about getting blown up in Iraq, and then spending two years learning to walk again. During that time I was on hospice levels of Oxycontin. It was the only thing that kept me sane through the beginning, but I quickly realized the addiction.
One of the hardest things I faced was when I made the decision to downgrade my pain medication. The withdrawals from a years worth of 80mg twice a day was unbelievable. There were so many times I almost gave up.
I fully respect the courage it took for you to share that with the world, and applaud your courage in facing up to your addiction and winning. Thank you for sharing that story with us.
Hey Chuck
Welcome to my life online.
You are spot on, your mindset is what sets you apart form everyone else. You go to where your thoughts take you, which is why its so important to have productive thoughts and beliefs.
Hey Chris
Thanks for passing by and thanks or the comment.
You and Michael definitely have powerful stories and examples of how positive self belief is crucial in our lives. Thank you both for sharing.
Self belief can overcome incredible challenges. About 7 years ago I suffered an accident, breaking both my feet. The doctor in the hospital told me I would likely spend the rest of my life walking with sticks. I just refused to accept it. Despite the pain I experienced during the first year I decided to climb the highest mountain in Spain, where I lived at the time. A year after the accident I did so. Now there is not much I can't do.
I'm not special & I don't share this to brag – anyone reading this could overcome their big challenge. It was simply belief & being stubborn!!
