Are You Still Getting Ready To Get Ready In Your Network Marketing Business?

OK, NOW Get Going In Your Network Marketing Business

Perfection is wonderful but it is never really achieved. Are you holding off on doing something because you want it to be perfect before you actually do it?

How do you think this is effecting your network marketing business?

Waiting, putting off, re-tweaking, adjusting, re-writing, re-shooting, etc, etc all amount to PROCRASTINATION.

In essence what you are doing is procrastinating due to the fear of not being accepted, liked or understood. It’s your procrastination which has you failing right now, not your material which you haven’t submitted yet!

Nothing From Nothing = NOTHING

When I was doing my first article, I had the idea, I made notes, I wrote a first draft. Time spent 1 day.

I read first draft didn’t like it and re-wrote the whole thing. Time spent half a day.

I re-read my notes and my second draft. They didn’t match up properly, some bits were missing or I had gone off the plot somewhere, so a third draft was created. Time spent another half a day.

This process carried on for a week. Yes a week for one article. By about the seventh draft I was sick and tried of the topic, and I was seriously considering giving up article marketing.

I pushed on and made the decision to submit the article. It wasn’t perfect, far from it. I read it back now and cringe. But within a day I got three leads from it. This may not seem like much now, but coming from getting no leads to getting three from one article which I wasn’t going to upload was a massive deal for me. In-fact this virgin article is still bring me leads to this day. The funny thing is when I read the final uploaded article it is practically word for word the same as my first draft of the article. << Look how much time was wasted!

This had my mind made up. I no longer foolishly procrastinated about my articles, yes they have to be of a good quality but I know they will never be perfect. I bet after I have uploaded this and I read it back I’ll think of something else I coulda, shoulda written, this is always going to be the case.

Understand this, successful people are doers. They get out there and get it done. Then they do it again and again and again. They know the more they do it the better they will become. I guarantee Jason from JasonBetter.com reads back his articles and knows he could of changed things up a bit to make it better, but everyday without fail he has a great article ready for his hungry readership to digest. We love his articles and wish we could write like that. He writes for his readers not himself and the key thing is he gets it done!

GREAT TIP -> JUST DO IT >> KEEP DOING IT >> DO IT FOR OTHERS TO BENEFIT NOT TO PLEASE YOURSELF

Now you’d think I would of learn’t my lesson right? WRONG. I was happy with my article writing and I no longer procrastinated about that, so I decided to broaden the field. Video marketing was my next attempt.

I had done a few videos before for my MLSP system, and I had no problem doing them, but now I was doing a video for marketing purposes, it was a video which was to be pushed out to as many places as possible. For some reason this scared me. The procrastination kicked in again. I lost count of the amount of times I re-shot and re-edited the video. They same doubts of how I’ll be perceived came to mind and it was really stopping me from moving forward.

Again I got sick and tried of re-doing it so I just thought, ‘I’m going to upload it and stick with my distribution plan’, who doesn’t like it won’t click through. I would have lost nothing, but I would have gained a window of opportunity, which is more than what I have by not uploading it. So that is what I did. The response was great, it surpassed my expectations which once again proves the success is in the doing.

Just Do It

By all means go over your material to make sure it is what you want it to be, your message is clear and understandable, but don’t hold off on getting out there to your market. You will get better as time goes on and the early fears you may have will disappear.

Repetition is the only method to bring you closer to perfection. Keep on keeping on and the results will follow. You have to start somewhere and now is as good a place and time as any. GO FOR IT.

Relate

I am sure there are many of you who can relate to this. Tell us your story. Have you overcome the procrastination stage, how did you overcome it? Or has this been like a kick in the a** for you? Talk to us, the comment box is all yours.

I can definitely relate to procrastination!

When I was in grade school, I used to crumble up several pieces of paper and start over before I was finally satisfied with the outcome.

I'm a lot better now, but that tendency to strive for perfection still exists. I've learned a lot from my wife, who is a DOER and I try to be more that way.

Then again, there are worse things, I could be satisfied with putting crap out there.

I appreciate that you strive to be better, Dwayne.

Hey Dwayne,

Procrastination is a disease! I posted this on my Facebook post. It relates to your article. BTW…Great Article!

Don't think too much about how you are going to achieve your goals. Too much analysis leads to paralysis. Too much thought can create worry, and worry fosters fear and doubt. Just get started and learn as you go. Action creates courage, and momentum keeps you going…

Have a great day!
Josh

Hey Derek

Procrastination was a massive part of my life. I knew it was killing me so I decided to become a doer and that's working out pretty well.

You and Monique seem very suit, you guys make a great team. Love reading and seeing the stuff you put out there

Dwayne Huggins February 5, 2010 at 20:40

Hey Josh

Nice phrase. 'Analysis, Paralysis'

Since I kicked procrastination to the curb my business has started to grow nicely and I am picking up momentum.
Anyone can do this and that's the message we are getting out there.

Hi Dwayne,

Boy can I relate. Back when I got my degree in Graphic Design we had a week to complete one project. Oftentimes I redid the whole thing again the last minute – completely changed the design – because I thought it wasn't good enough. I am a perfectionist and I have a very hard time with it. I have to remind myself that others see the things we create in a totallly different light. What may be imperfect for us might be brilliant for them.

Hey Dwayne, great post. I have been through all of this myself. I still spend as much as two hours sometimes on a blog post.

This is good advice for anybody wanting to excel in network marketing. Stay on target, do a spell check and hit submit.

I'll be back

Nice post Dwayne,
I might be guilty of not proofreading my stuff enough. I go back a day or two later to find out that some of the stuff I wrote made sense in my head, but didn't come out right. My biggest hurdle was getting over procrastination! I wanted and still want everything I do to be perfect. I came to the realization after some trainings that evenly doing something poorly is better than not doing it at all. Just taking ACTION will get you out of the habit of procrastination.

Nice

Hi Ilka

Graphic design, a field I know well. Most graphic designers I know are perfectionist so you are not alone.
Your right, what is imperfect for us usually over delivers for receivers.

Dwayne Huggins February 23, 2010 at 11:53

Hey Chris

Staying on target is essential.

Welcome Eric

The only way to defeat procrastination is ACTION we need to spread this message to the world, there is so much to gain once we get rid of procrastination.

Thanks for passing by.
