How To Make Money Online From Your Blog

My post yesterday – How Do I Set Up A Network Marketing Blog – seemed to give birth to more questions, which is great as this is what it was supposed to do.

The most pressing question emailed to me was “How Do I Make Money Online From My Blog?”.

So I thought let me address that today.

Understand this before we go any further. It takes time and consistent activity from you to get to a position where you will be able to make money from your blog. Blogging is not an instant cash cow. Setting up a blog today will not bring you money tomorrow.

For network marketers our blogs primary functions are to brand ourselves, offer value and provide solutions to people’s problems. Doing this will position us as leaders. People will want to partner with us through the relationship we have built with them and that is where the real money is.

How To Make Money Online From Your Blog

1. Build A List – You should be getting people to leave their email address with you from the minute you publish your first post. I know that may sound crazy, but the sooner you start building your list the bigger your list will be, the more people you will have to market to.

The key here is to have an Email Marketing System in place from the start which captures the emails for you. The one I use is the very popular is Aweber.

Aweber charge you a low monthly subscription, but they are worth their weight in gold. As they are a respected email marketing company the majority of their emails get sent through to the destined email address without bouncing or getting ‘junked’. You can also set up auto-responder emails using their system, so you can send emails on auto-pilot.

When you have a product or service to sell which will benefit the people on your list. Using Aweber you can email your list informing them of the offer. In the email put links to your sales page.

From one email to your list you can make some great commission in sales.

Better yet. If you have your own products you can use the same formula of emailing your list to offer them your products. You get to make all of the sales money! YAY.

If you want to check Aweber out click on the link. Yes it is my affiliate link and if you decide to buy I will make money. If you are serious about making money online you will have to get an email marketing system at some point.

2. Affiliate Ads – You can have constant affiliate banner ads on your site (look up and to the right, you will see the ones I currently have on display). These banners will point directly to your affiliate link.

You can become an affiliate to many products and you can put them all on your blog. I would strongly advise against this. Your readers come to your network marketing blog for your value, not for there eyes to be abused with 100s of little flashing affiliate banner ads.

Work out what you feel is a suitable amount to put on your blog and only put ads which relate to your blogs niche and will benefit your readers.

If what you have is off value to your readers they will click and buy from you.

3. Adsense Banner Ads (or other banner ad sellers) – Simple concept where other advertisers place ads on your blog and you get paid per click or view.

This is great if you have a ton of traffic come to your site. And I do mean a TON of traffic.

4. Just Ask – Sounds to simple huh? Well if you have been building relationships with your readers and you have been offering them value, solving their problems and being an all round good guy / gal then if you have a product which you think they will benefit from ask them to buy it.

You can easily do this in a post or a video, just make sure that the call to action directs them to your sales page and you highlight the benefits of the products to them.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

What you will find is that someways will work better than others and as you go along you will find out which ways are more beneficial for you and your readers.

The 2 main things to need for these ways to really work and generate good cash flow are, traffic and a form for capturing emails.

Hey Dwayne,
My best results come from the list I've built. I can always turn some decent money on a product by putting out a “hey check this out” email to my list. Provide them with value and they will be loyal followers and buyers for a long time.

I imagine you went through a few screw ups as far as ads/affiliates etc. but got them ironed out pretty quickly. I love Aweber it does make it simple and efficient not to mention very versital for email campaigns. Good post and yes we all like to make some cash!

Hey Dwayne,

Great Job explaining how to monetize using a blog.

My favorite is using an email list and affiliate marketing. If someone is not monetizing from their blog. Then they are afraid of making money.

Chat with you later…

Nice man, that was some top notch stuff Dwayne. The way I do it is, I post value, mostly how too stuff, along with an entertaining video . I post banners and links and use tracking programs to see which banners and links perform the best. I then keep the ones that convert and get rid of the ones that don't for max results.

Here is an example http://bit.ly/9tXGk3

Great tips there Dwayne!

Another way of course is that one can write product reviews as posts which link to products via one's affiliate links. It's really important that these follow the format for a review though and don't become just another place to throw up a sales letter in disguise.

Lastly it is probably a good idea in keeping with US law to make sure that somewhere on your blog you have a statement about the fact that you could earn commissions via links on one's blog.

Thanks for the awesome value that you bring to the table!

Hey Dwayne,

From what I've seen, getting them to opt in asap, and then building the relationship, is where the most profits come in.

If a blog can't pull in any opt ins, it's not going to make anywhere near the money it could.

Great points, there are multiple ways of making money with a blog.

Have a great day!

Hey Dwayne,

Giving value without expecting to receive anything in return is key, because you have to build “know, like, and trust” first. People might not buy your affiliate program on the first visit, but if they like your content and keep coming back, they might take a more serious look the next time.

Take care,

Wayne

I don't fully agree with the comment – “If someone is not monetizing from their blog, then they are afraid of making money”, because different people blog for different reasons and you can't just put everybody who doesn't monetize into the same basket.

Business is the name of the game.
I don't view my blog as a cash cow and my only source of income but as I can make money from it why not!

As always Marcus, great to see you and thank you for the added value.

Products reviews are a great idea.
& the whole law side of things is often over looked.

Some bloggers make a 6 figure income from their blog. Which is great. If they can do it, I see no reason why we can't.

Hey Wayne, great to see you back.

Network marketing blogs should be all about value first. The good thing with that as you have pointed out is the value will natural turn into money.

Hey Dwayne,

Making money from your blog is a tricky concept. I think several factors come into play. Starting with the value you bring, then the offsite work with social media and the like. Driving traffic to the blog is the key. Then catching that traffic into your subscriber list. After that, the list does all the work. Continuing to build a relationship through email, and then on occasion promoting a product that you yourself think is great.

Hi Dwayne,

Getting them to opt in to the list, most definitely!

But I am actually taking a “backwards” approach to my blog — I'm sending people to capture pages through paid strategies and then inviting them to the blog through my emails and funded proposal.

The purpose is to create a place where they can learn more and network with like-minded peeps… it's all about the relationships!

Hey Dwayne,

20% huh… umm lets say the check is in the mail?

haha great post, I'd say the most important thing to me building a “quality” list. Need people who will actually open what you send.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey Chris

Without traffic any site is lost in cyberspace. Getting targeted eyes on your content is a natural way to make money from your blog if that is what you chose to do.

Now building relationships with your audience is the jewel in the crown.
